Research emphasises the benefits of music and learning music. Music brings so many different emotions out in people, and it doesn’t stop there. Some scientists believe that music can produce healthier produce and healthier plants. It it also believed by many people that music can soothe those who are lost in their own world such as people who suffer from illnesses like Alzheimer’s. Temparments in animals can become calmer or enraged depending on the choice of music played. Music is played to babies that are restless, therefore aiding their comfort.

The National Curriculum for music has said that, “As an integral part of culture, past and present, it helps pupils understand themselves and relate to others, forging important links between the home, school and the wider world.

We as a whole society love music because it brings out the best in us… most of the time, our spirits are lifted high when we listen to our favorite songs. I bet you’ve never ever heard a person saying, “I hate music!”, you may have heard them say something like, “I hate this Artist“, or, “I hate this music“. Guaranteed though, you have never and will never come across an individual who doesn’t like any aspect of music.

Music is relevant in all our lives, it is, “The Spice of Life!”.

On this blog we have entered a broad range of music for everyone to listen to and leave comments if they chose to do so. Have a browse around and Enjoy!!

Meatloaf, born as Marvin Lee Aday, changed his name to Michael in 2001. Meatloaf has endured bankruptcy more than once and has persevered through negativity about his music from his native United States. He struggled to establish a steady career within the U.S but has always retained his popularity in Europe. Especially the U.K. After taking four years to complete his album “Bat Out of Hell” his efforts paid off immensely. He has sold over 37 million copies and still today after 30 years, it sells over 200,000 copies annually and has remained in the charts for over 9 years.

In the U.K Meatloaf is one of two artists to have never left the charts. That’s a phenomenal achievement.

Click the play button and turn your volume up high!!

I could rabbit on for hours about Meatloaf and the band he leads, Neverland Express, but for now I’ll leave you to listen the man himself in action.

The Manic street preachers- The Holy Bible, need I say more.  The best punk band to hail from this glorious country, Wales.  Originally formed in 1986, James Dean Bradfeild(lead vocals, guitar), Nicky Wire(bass guitar, vocals), Sean Moore(drums, vocals) and Richey Edwards(co-lyricist).  Richey dissappeared in 1995 and his whereabouts are still unknown.  Die hard fans are convinced he’s still alive and popping up in far flung locations(like Benidorm!).  Sensible old moi thinks he’s as dead as a dodo, after all he was a documented delusional, bipolar sufferer with a tendency to self-harm.  If I was a betting woman…….

Rancid is a good example of post-punk.  An American ska-punk band that formed in the early 90s.  Along with other bands such as Greenday and Offspring they have managed to engage with a new generation of headers, so credit when it’s due! Prefer old school stuff personally but really love the reggae feel in this tune.  Going to stop typing and have a jump around the room now, ENJOY

Punk rock is a music genre like no other.  It is hard to pinpoint an exact time or a place to its origins, as it stems from many types of music (particularly reggae).  The popularity of Punk begun in the 1970s.  The climatic year being 1977, a golden era for fans of this anti-establishment movement!!!God save the Queen!!!

Punk rock was the first type of ”political” music that created a deliberate and often violent reaction to the issues of the time.  Its hatred of mass commercialised music and so called “boring” lifestyles of their peers guaranteed huge media attention.  They are many different types of Punk, the most popular being Oi!,  Hardcore,  Anarcho,  Post and New wave.

A rave (or rave party) is the term in use since the 1980s for dance parties (often all-night events) where DJs and other performers play electronic dance music, sometimes referred to as “rave music”, with the accompaniment of laser light shows, projected images, and artificial fog. Popular rave dance styles include breakdancing, popping and locking, shuffling, glowsticking, liquid dancing, and poi. Rave parties are often associated with the use of “club drugs” such as ecstasy, LSD, amphetamines and, more recently, ketamine and 2C-B.

“RAVE”

Less intense forms of rave music include Ambient Music and Chillout Music, usually used in separate areas called “chillrooms”. Most ravers move from one area to another to find great satisfaction.

House music often has roots in Funk and Disco, while Trance has it roots in New Age and Symphanic music. Many DJ’s remix existing sounds.

Many ravers are closely tied to the drug “Ecstasy”, because it enchances there experience, saying the music sounds clearer, Crisper and more “fluid”. But alot of people are against using drugs, saying “The music itself is enough”.

House music is a style of electronic dance music that was developed by dance club DJ’s in Chicago in the early to mid-1980s. House music is strongly influenced by elements of the late 1970s soul- and funk-infused dance music style of disco. House music takes disco’s use of a prominent bass drum on every beat and developed a new style by mixing in a heavy electronic synthesizer bassline & electronic effects.

The growth of house music started in the “summer of love” 1988/89. But was also developed in Ibiza. Ibiza was a hippie stop-over for the rich in the 1970’s. The name “House” came from a club called  “The warehouse” which became very popular with the teenages because of the drum beat music.

STYLISTIC ORIGINS- Electro, Funk, Soul and Disco.

CULTURAL ORIGINS-Chicago, London, Manchester.

SUBGENRES- Hard house, Electro house, Disco house, Funky house and Pumpin house.

Not everyone understands House music; it’s a spiritual thing; a body thing; a soul thing.
