Why we love music

Research emphasises the benefits of music and learning music. Music brings so many different emotions out in people, and it doesn’t stop there. Some scientists believe that music can produce healthier produce and healthier plants. It it also believed by many people that music can soothe those who are lost in their own world such as people who suffer from illnesses like Alzheimer’s. Temparments in animals can become calmer or enraged depending on the choice of music played. Music is played to babies that are restless, therefore aiding their comfort.

The National Curriculum for music has said that, “As an integral part of culture, past and present, it helps pupils understand themselves and relate to others, forging important links between the home, school and the wider world.

We as a whole society love music because it brings out the best in us… most of the time, our spirits are lifted high when we listen to our favorite songs. I bet you’ve never ever heard a person saying, “I hate music!”, you may have heard them say something like, “I hate this Artist“, or, “I hate this music“. Guaranteed though, you have never and will never come across an individual who doesn’t like any aspect of music.

Music is relevant in all our lives, it is, “The Spice of Life!”.

On this blog we have entered a broad range of music for everyone to listen to and leave comments if they chose to do so. Have a browse around and Enjoy!!

  1. Interesting stuff. I’m a dreadful one for singing away to myself even though I can’t carry a tune in a bucket! I can only have instrumental music on while I’m working though. Otherwise I start typing the words of the song instead of what I should be doing!

  2. definitely agreed. I love music for all these reasons. I also “hate” reggae music. I think I just don’t understand its redundancy though. Your comment about Alzheimer’s is very interesting… I’d love to see some case studies about the effects of music on ones environment.

I’m wondering if by listening to ‘rap’ music, the inner city is a little bit more rowdy. And if listening solely to country music, all of Texas is a little bit ’slower.’ (I tease).

  3. Hi Dushey, sorry it took so long to get back to you. I meant to reply to your comments sooner but was unable to do so. After reading the comments you left, I decided to do a little more research regarding music and it’s effects on ones enviroment.

The link below is a study in relation to patients with Alzheimer’s and the positive effects in mood with music.
