Probably the best album of all time

The Manic street preachers- The Holy Bible, need I say more.  The best punk band to hail from this glorious country, Wales.  Originally formed in 1986, James Dean Bradfeild(lead vocals, guitar), Nicky Wire(bass guitar, vocals), Sean Moore(drums, vocals) and Richey Edwards(co-lyricist).  Richey dissappeared in 1995 and his whereabouts are still unknown.  Die hard fans are convinced he’s still alive and popping up in far flung locations(like Benidorm!).  Sensible old moi thinks he’s as dead as a dodo, after all he was a documented delusional, bipolar sufferer with a tendency to self-harm.  If I was a betting woman…….

  1. Good link, I’ve been using Last.FM a lot lately. Really shoved my Internet use through the roof at home though — I need faster broadband now.

  2. I saw the Manic Street Preachers many years ago in the Norwich Art Centre (a tiny venue!) before they were really famous. It was also the night when Richie self-harmed drastically, when interviewed after the gig by NME’s Steve Lamacq. Richie scored ‘4 Real’ into his arm when the NME tried to make out they were just a gimmick – 4 years after this incident Richie’s car was found abandoned on the Severn Bridge and was officially reported missing! http://www.panicmanual.com/2008/03/03/what-would-richie-think/

I also saw the Manics (minus Richie) at last year’s Glastonbury Festival – but they were outshone by Kasabian on this occasion in my opinion!
