House

House music is a style of electronic dance music that was developed by dance club DJ’s in Chicago in the early to mid-1980s. House music is strongly influenced by elements of the late 1970s soul- and funk-infused dance music style of disco. House music takes disco’s use of a prominent bass drum on every beat and developed a new style by mixing in a heavy electronic synthesizer bassline & electronic effects.

The growth of house music started in the “summer of love” 1988/89. But was also developed in Ibiza. Ibiza was a hippie stop-over for the rich in the 1970’s. The name “House” came from a club called  “The warehouse” which became very popular with the teenages because of the drum beat music.

STYLISTIC ORIGINS- Electro, Funk, Soul and Disco.

CULTURAL ORIGINS-Chicago, London, Manchester.

SUBGENRES- Hard house, Electro house, Disco house, Funky house and Pumpin house.

Not everyone understands House music; it’s a spiritual thing; a body thing; a soul thing.
